Funky Christmas Tree

One of our suppliers is getting ready for open house this weekend and while I was browsing there yesterday I took several photos of their beautifully decorated trees. Hope these will give you more ideas on creating your Christmas wonderland!

This is a funky purple Christmas tree decorated with blue and lime green mesh netting, lots of green sparkly picks and loaded with ornaments.

Closer view of the top. Narrow strips of mesh netting can be seen peeking through the branches making long swirls of color.

Red Glittered Peace Sign Ornament. This ornament is sold as a set of red, green and silver.

Red Confetti Ball Ornament. This ornament is sold in a set of red, pink and gold.

Lime Green and Candy Apple Red Ornament also available in a square green style and is glittered with polka dots or stripes.

Christmas Tree with Elf Hat Tree Topper

Here’s another great picture from one of my supplier’s showrooms. Very tall, slender tree in the corner decorated with many items from the RAZ Santa’s Workshop collection and other items also.

The tree was made to look even taller by separating it at its sections and extending it. Not quite sure how they extended it, but it added a good bit of height to the tree. The large glittered balls hanging from the ceiling just added to the room’s cheerfulness! And, the balls were round, even though they don’t really look like that in the photographs. Guess it was my camera angle.

The tree is covered in red and green ornaments, red and green ball sprays, assorted elves  – some are plush, some are metal ornaments. The RAZ Elves are available in a 15” and a larger 22″ .Red and green mesh ribbon is used and there are some large metal ornament. Skinny elf hats made of metal or paper mache like material shoot out from the branches. Several pairs of RAZ Elf Boots are scattered throughout the tree.

The hat is topped with the velvet striped Elf Hat from RAZ. The Elf Hat from hat is a tall decoration made of strips of red, green, lime green and creamy white velvet. It is made on a metal frame and is just hollow enough to fit over the top of the tree. Great tree topper and also adds extra inches to the height of the tree.

The Whimsical Mouse ornament comes in three assorted styles and measures anywhere from 4.5″ to 7″. They are sold in sets of three and are from the RAZ Santa’s Workshop collection.

Another view of the Elf Boot ornament. The Elf Boot measures about 9″ and is sold in pairs. It is made of velvet strips like the Elf hat on a metal frame with a red ball on the toe.

Closeup view of the Elf Hat as a tree topper. The Elf Hat measures 21″ in height. So you can see how it would really add more height to your tree. It can also make a great table decoration as a centerpiece, on your mantle or underneath your tree. Very versatile decoration and your kids will love it!

All the ornaments and decorations from the Santa’s Workshop are whimsical and cheery. Some styles are more classic red and green and others multicolor and even include orange and medium blues. But the thing I like best about the Santa’s Workshop collection is that the ornaments and decorations blend so well with those little homemade keepsake treasures that your children have made. Little hand written cards, Santa’s lists……all would have a nice place nestled among the decorations from Santa’s Workshop.

Review: Toy Story 3 Glo Doodle

At the moment we are slightly obsessed with 'Toy Story' in our household and so we could be nothing but delighted when we discovered the new 'Toy Story 3' edition Glo Doodle.

We've tried the 'Magna Doodle' and the 'Etch-a-Sketch', but never before have we tried the 'Glo Doodle.' Now I realise what we have been missing out on.

Taking the Glo Doodle out of the box and fitting in the batteries, we were greeted with a box of light which offered us a whole host of creative options. The children were immediately attracted to it because of the Toy Story theme, but picking the Glo Doodle up, they soon realised that there was double fun to be had. Toy Story characters and the fact that they could draw and trace in light. Wow!

The Glo Doodle comes with 6 traceable Toy Story characters which you are able to trace using the transparent screen and either your finger or the writing implement that comes with the Glo Doodle. The children absolutely loved doing this but they loved even better the fact that you could then put on the 3D glasses and get a totally new depth to the drawings. Press the 'magic erase' button and begin all the fun all over again!

We really couldn't find any negatives with this product. We loved the fact that you could create lots of different textures by smudging your finger across and then using your nail to define areas. There is probably a wealth of effects and projects you could do on the Glo Doodle. Perhaps you could take a look at a website such as Art Attack for inspiration.

My 22 month old son was amazed to see his scribbles light up and my 8 year old son was intrigued by the different effects he could achieve. The Glo Doodle even provided a novel way of helping him learn his times table as he was only too happy to write them out using the Glo Doodle.

This would be great for any long car journeys or any time you are feeling in the slightest bit creative.

We give this toy a definite 10/10!

We've just discovered the 'Best Party Bags Ever' from www.aquarterof.co.uk




Everyone thought they were amazing and the stripy blue bags (pink for girls) just added to the excitement of opening them. We used these bags in conjunction with a little treasure hunt we devised out the back garden for the boys and they had to find the party bags which were the 'treasure.'

The party bags certainly held the 'wow factor' with the boys. Delving through the goodies, one of the children asked what the www.aquarterof.co.uk info card was. When I replied that the cards explained where the sweets came from, a little boy asked "from Santa?". That for me summed up the satisfaction with the bags the children had. Their little faces were a delight to watch as they opened the bags.

The bags held just the right combination of items to totally delight the boys. Squishy skulls, huge jelly spiders, traditional chew bars, whistle lollipops and things to provide the fun element such as the whoopie cushion and water bombs.

Autumn Mantle Decoration

Autumn is just around the corner and it’s time to get out your fall decorations now! This mantle decoration and wreath from RAZ is a simple garland and battery powered pillar candles with a matching autumn wreath.

The autumn garland could be duplicated by using silk maple leaf sprays fastened together using chenille twists.

Fill in spaces with artificial gourds and pie pumpkins, or even real ones. Orange candles in a pumpkin spice adds a nice aroma to the room, or you could use battery powered pillar candles.

These RAZ Acorns would make a nice touch placed on one end of the mantle. Finish off your creation with an autumn wreath.
